Lead Veterinary Technician
Whatcom Veterinary Hospital is looking to add a Lead Veterinary Technician to our growing team. At our hospital we strive to have an energetic, fun and safe work environment. We are looking for a candidate who will come with leadership skills, eagerness to provide guidance to their team, and be a highly motivated team member who is compassionate, dedicated, and detail orientated.

Position Duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Supervising and training of Veterinary Technicians and Assistants.
  • Help promote efficiency within the hospital team.
  • Provide specialized nursing care for injured or ill animals.
  • Assist in diagnostic, medical and surgical procedures using a range of high-tech diagnostic equipment including radiology, ultrasonography, and dental equipment.
  • Make recommendations to the practice manager concerning personnel matters, disciplinary actions and follow through.
  • Strong communication, leadership and motivation skills. Has the ability to effectively solve problems dealing with staff.
  • Efficiently assign tasks or duties to team members and follow up to ensure completion.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Possess exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
  • Work well with all employees and ensure that your actions support the hospital, the doctors, and the practice philosophy.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Licensed Technician with experience
  • Leadership Experience (Ideal not required)
  • Full Time Position
  • Very few Saturday Shifts

Veterinary Technician
Whatcom Veterinary Hospital is hiring for a full-time Veterinary Technician! At our hospital, we strive to have an energetic, fun, and safe work environment. We value positive energy and people who are highly motivated to contribute to the success of our team. The ideal candidate would be able to work both independently and as a team player! We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated, compassionate, dedicated and is detail orientated. The applicant must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and provide his or her own transportation. Must be able to work some weekend shifts (Saturday mornings). Position duties include but are not limited to:

  • Technical assistance in diagnostic and treatment modalities common in a small animal practice.
  • Assisting Veterinarians with routine patient appointments and procedures.
  • Surgical Assisting and Monitoring
  • Understand how to safely restrain and work with animals, primarily dogs and cats.
  • Communicating effectively with Veterinarians and other hospital staff
  • Apply hospital standards that keep pets and staff members safe.
